No President Will Spoon Feed You

How many times have you heard the word “change” over the past 6 months? I’m going to go out on a limb here and venture a guess that you’ve heard it about a million times. Time and time again, I’ve heard people talk about how a new President is going to change everything including the failing economy, job market, and overall financial pinch many of us are feeling. While there is no doubt that an economic policy set forth by an administration can offer tools for change, but it’s how we as American’s use the tools that will truly cause the change. Stop looking to the government for change and create your own change.
One of my favorite quotes is from Ghandi, “Be the change you want to see in the world”. No President or government policy is going to drop a golden ticket in your lap. In a recent article, Never Worry About The Mortgage Payment Again, I expressed my disbelief concerning how many people have a notion that our new leader in Washington is going to magically make our bills disappear. I can promise you that no President is going to be standing in your driveway with a gas tank and a smile. Changing your life can only come from one person… that’s YOU! Grab the bull by the horns and take some intiative. If you hate your job, go and obtain the skills to start a new career through additional education or training. If your bills are getting out of control, join a social network or local group geared toward financial guidance. At the end of the day, you are the only engine that can propell yourself up the ladder of success, not the government.
You might be faced with tremendous challenges right now, but the way you react to those difficult circumstances will ultimately determine the level of impact these challenges have on your life. The waiting line on capitol hill is extremely long and life is too short to spend standing around waiting. True change is a state of mind and finding a clear path to solutions from within.
I truly hope that Barrack Obama is a beacon of “change” for us all, but ultimately each of us need to be that change.

I hope that Obama as an excellent orator will inspire people to be take charge. Sometimes all you need is someone who inspires confidence.
