3 Myths To Avoid On Election Day
Tomorrow, Nov. 4th is the big day; change is on the horizon and history is going to be made. Voter turn out is expected to be at record levels as people from coast to coast are embracing the election process like never before. Within all of this excitement and positivity are some underlying political tactics to you should avoid. Voter intimidation and misrepresentation are sure to surface. Don’t let your vote go unheard because of these unethical campaigns to steer you away from the polls. Here are three common tactics used to confuse voters on election day.
- You Can Vote By Phone- there have been reports of people getting phone calls stating it’s possible to place their vote via the telephone on Nov. 4th. This is not true. Voting over the telephone is not an official way to cast your vote. If you receive a call or email stating this, disregard and go to your official polling station to determine it’s legitimacy.
- Election Day Has Changed- again there have been reports of people receiving messages stating election day has been moved. Don’t believe this either. It’s simply another tactic to try and mislead voters. Tomorrow Nov. 4th is election day.
- Traffic Violations Equal No Vote- just because you have a couple of parking or speeding tickets doesn’t mean you can’t vote. Don’t let misleading statements such as this prevent you from going to your polling location and voice your choice of elected office. It’s simple not true. If you have any doubts, there are election officials at the polling venues to help answer any questions.
These are just 3 common tactics I’ve heard being used to try and mislead people in an effort to prevent them from voting. Americans have every right to be given the opportunity to vote and it would be truly unfortunate if someone was mislead into not expressing their choice. If you’ve heard of any other “myths” please leave a comment and let everyone know.
