3 Creative Ways to Invest Your Money
Are you sick of watching your 401k and retirement money tank? Everyone should have a well diversified portfolio of investments; Stocks should be just a part of your investment strategy. Bonds are typically referred to as the easiest way to maintain a balanced portfolio, however there’s other vehicles that can offer nice returns on your cash, some of which can be fun and creative. Here are 3 ways I recently heard how people are creatively putting their money to work.
1. Collecting Isn’t Just for Kids - I’ve heard from many people that are placing some of their savings into collectibles, looking to beat the markets and have some fun along the way! Some of the more creative ways that people are investing in these collectibles include buying and selling vintage guitars, vintage wines and champagnes, and exotic livestock. As with any investment these come with risks but many people are combining their desire to make money with hobbies they enjoy.
2. There’s Gold In Them Hills - The flight to gold has really picked up speed over the past few months as the stock market has slid to a recent 5 year low. Gold has been a long time favorite of many investors. Recently I had someone tell me that they went out and purchased 50k worth of gold coins and felt that even if gold prices slide, they at least have a physical commodity they can see, hold, and touch. Don’t forget about other metals such as copper and silver.
3. You Can Lien On Me - With the rise in mortgage delinquencies and homeowners finding it more difficult to make ends meet, a flood of tax liens have been issued by local and state agencies. Many times these liens come with an interest rate of 10-20% on the outstanding balance of tax that is due. These liens are often sold at auction to the highest bidder. The popularity of these auctions has grown quickly and people across the country are taking a closer look at these lucrative investments.
These are just a few of the ways people are trying to stop the daily losses being handed down by the stock market. If you have a creative way of investing money or a good story on how you beat the returns provided by wall street, let us know! We would love to hear it.
